Veggie Num Num's First Giveaway

For all you cupcake lovers!!

I really appreciate all the sweet comments and e-mails I get from readers. So, I am having a giveaway. I'm giving away a cupcake courier and my favorite cupcake cookbook.

Here's how it will work: To be considered for the giveaway, please send me a comment or an e-mail with a suggestion on how I can improve my blog. It can be a specific recipe, a design idea, a photography hint-anything really. I'll assign numbers to each suggestion I receive and then randomly pick a number. I'll take "entries" until 11pm Friday, March 27th.

I'm really looking forward to your ideas. Good-luck!

  1. Thanks for doing the giveaway--you may hate this suggestion, but my strongest one would be --change the name. Your recipes are strong, (loved the gnocchi post) your photos are clear and your writing is good. The name of the blog has made me wince and almost delete it from the reader more than once.

  2. I would like to know more about the ingredients you use.

  3. It is not a recipe, nor a suggestion related to food at all - but I do not see a Follow This Blog box. It is MUCH easier to come back and find a blog that you have followed than searching through a bookmark list, plus sometimes people like to check out the blogs followed by other bloggers. Also a button and banner would be great - especially if you offered it up for others to post on their blog to drive traffic to your little corner of the blogoverse :)

  4. Hi,
I enjoy your blog very much! I like the recipes and the animal pictures. The best suggestion I have for you is to not post another picture of your injured toe...that's not the greatest thing to see when you're expecting a picture of some food. :)

  5. Hi!
Hm, the only thing I can think of is maybe add a FREE, cute background to your blog! The one I have on my blog came from this site:
    http://thecutestblogontheblock.com/

They have tons of free blog backgrounds. :)

  6. Maybe you could "theme weeks" - pick a week and make a recipe a day (all pertaining to a particular theme for that week), like Italian week, or Blue Week (all recipes having something to do with the color blue)...or something like that - it could be fun. And we could all "play along" w/ you :)

  7. You mentioned photography tips...well, I have found that using the ISO setting on my camera works really well for food picures. :D

  8. I have to laugh at Jill's comment about the toe picture...that was funny! It didn't really bother me but I could see how it might to some people. And I agree with Katya also about the name...maybe something a little shorter (just the Veggie Num Num). And if I was on Blogger, I would check out those cute blog backgrounds on "The Cutest Blog on the Block" but they don't work on Wordpress unfortunately. I think you are doing a great job Michele!

  9. I agree with Kristy on the name Veggie Num Num.
It lets you keep your url and it explains that most of your recipes are Vegetarian. I also agree with Jill on your toe. :)

  10. I think the word "veggie" should be in the title for sure. Or, something to do with being a vegetarian.

  11. I think you have a great blog and I wouldn't change it except I can't find a Follow Me box! I want to follow your blog. I like that your blog is easy to read, not junked up with a slew of ads and other nonsense!

Welcome to the foodie blog roll!

  12. what a wonderful and sweet idea!!!! I love your blog and your recipes make me a little less scared to go in the veggie direction. (well heck a little less scared in the kitchen too!!!) I know you have the "blog archives" there on the right but I think it would be cool if there was a way for you to have on the right an index of the food categories and then link to certain recipe entries. Sometimes I'm just in the mood for something specific and it would be nice to be able to find it quickly!!! (I guess its already kinda there on your tags/lables but I wonder if there is another way? just an idea!) have a great day-

  13. Katya-

Thanks for the suggestion! I am working on the name; it was rather a temporary name to begin with.

  14. Heidi-

Thank for you for the ideas! I'll work on the additions you suggested; I just have to figure out how to do so!

  15. Hi-

I'll work on adding more ingredient information! I do have some really neat favorite products to share.

  16. Hi Jill-

Thank you for commenting! The inury post was regrettable! I usually do my blog writing in the wee hours of the night (3am-ish), and so sometimes I'm a bit punchy from being so sleepy. No more anatomical posts! I guess at the time I thought it was relevent because it was a cooking injury!

Thanks for the great idea! I'll start looking at blog backgrounds this week.

  19. Hi Chloe,
Thanks for commenting! Theme weeks is a great idea. I do want to start featuring certain cookbooks, and making recipes from each book. I would love to see some of the things you make. And, if you ever try any of the recipes I post, please let me know!

Do you have any favorite cookbooks that you use a lot?

  20. Gloria-

Thank you for the ISO tip! I always neglect to check my ISO, and last time I took photos it was set at 800 and my photos were very noisy. I will have to be more careful.

  21. Thanks Kristy! You have been so supportive of my blogging from the beginning!

  22. I agree that the word "veggie" should be in the title. It makes thinsg clear.

Shelly- Great idea! I will have to figure out how to add the Follow Me box. Thank you!

  23. Lauren- I think that's a great idea! I would like to make the recipes more searchable. I know nothing at all about programming or HTML, but I am taking a beginners class next quarter. I'm hoping to learn some things that will help with fixing up the blog!

Thank you for the comment! I would like to add some color...I have a very colorful house and would like a colorful blog as well!

  25. How about "Michele's Veggie Pink Kitchen"? I don't know much about blogs so this may be silly but I wanted to participate. Good Luck!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for commenting Cheryl! Very cute suggestion! I was also thinking of trying to incorporate "pink" into the title. Having the word "kitchen" is another great idea. I think I am going to work on the design for a bit and then see what name would work best with the style.

  27. I often read your blog through Google Reader, which just makes everything white and neutral but I happened to click on your direct link today was surprised by the changes! Looking good. I love the new color...very soothing and inviting. And I like the shortened blog name and the description under the name...very accurate. You are making nice changes. Good job!

  28. Kristy-
I use Google Reader too because it's so convenient.

Thanks! There are still some adjustments I want to make.

  29. I like the photography in your blog, but I think the background colour:the dark shades of grey/green of your blog sometimes drowns vibrancy in your photo shots. So my suggestion is really simple, it would be to change the background just a little, where it allows you to showcase your images.

  30. Thank you mangocheeks! I was also thinking that the colors need to be adjusted a bit. Blogger offers limited color choices, but I think there is a way to use your own colors; I am going to try to find out how to do that.
