TWD: Baking with Julia -- Rewind -- Pizza Rustica and Hungarian Shortbread

Just a quick post on two late TWD recipes.

I'm not a fan of anything that tastes like eggs, so I didn't like the Pizza Rustica. Dave loves quiches and things, so he thought that it was really good. It is a pretty dish to serve with the lattice top, and it would be a perfect summer brunch dish since you can cook it ahead and serve it at room temperature, maybe with a salad and some fresh fruit.

I goofed up the Hungarian shortbread. I couldn't find any rhubarb at the grocery store, so I bought a jar of cherry preserves which I added way too much of, so I ended up with more of a crumble than a cookie. I added some almond extract to the dough because I like the combination of cherries and almonds. Messy and gooey, but tasty.

  1. Your shortbread in a jar looks really tasty! The lattice looks lovely too.
