Book Review -- The Best Veggie Burgers On The Planet by Joni Marie Newman

This is a gem of a vegan cookbook. There are a close to a hundred different veggie burger recipes and these burgers are tasty and hearty enough to please even non-vegans/vegetarians. I've made quite a few recipes from the book and every one has been delicious.

For a lot of the burgers you will need some special ingredients, namely TVP (textured vegetable protein), vital wheat gluten flour, and nutritional yeast. These are the main three and fortunately you can find them at any health food store, or online. I can buy them at my local grocery store in the natural foods section. Don't let the unusual ingredients deter you, these are delicious, delicious burgers and they don't taste like they are made of weird health food products.
Really!

Here are some of my favorite recipes:

the pintos and rice burger
the meatloaf burger
the zucchini and mushroom burger
the Jamaican jerk burger
the falafel burger
the potato samosa burger

And these are just a few off the top of my head.

This is such a fun book and the recipes are crazy-creative. If you're a veggie burger lover, or a regular burger lover who wants to try something different, I highly recommend this book.

  1. Neat! I usually buy frozen veggie burgers, but at least I'm eating veggie burgers!

  2. Hi Michelle! Sounds like a good book, thanks for the recommendation. I have one I like called Veggie Burgers Every Which Way by Lukas Volger. Most frozen veggie burgers are full of highly processed ingredients, and we never eat them anymore! Peace, Stephanie
