Melon with Berry Sauce

I stocked up on melon when it was on sale last week, and now I'm finding creative ways to use it up. This recipe is from La Cucina Italiana, and it's basically melon served with a raw blackberry puree. Very yummy! I used a combination of strawberries and blackberries, and instead of pistachios for a topping, I used lime zest. I love all the bright colors.

The recipe calls for making melon balls and they do make a very pretty presentation. But, I went with wedges because: a) I have no idea where my melon baller is--I haven't used it in about 10 years, b) I do not have the patience to make melon balls even if I did find the melon baller, c) presentation is lost on Dave.

This would make a lovely summer dessert and you could mix and match melon varieties depending on what looks good. It would also be a nice brunch dish. The sauce is good on its own, so I made extra to use with other things (ice cream, if Dave has his way).

  3. That looks great! I've been eating lots of melon this summer. I'm not so swift at making melon balls either.
