Super Bowl Treats -- Chicago Style

Dave's birthday was last week, and our very thoughtful family sent us a gift that was perfect for Super Bowl Sunday. We very much enjoyed Lou Malnati's Pizza, Eli's Cheesecake, and Garrett Popcorn. Wow! Yum! If you're not familiar with Lou Malnati's, I think you should be. It's amazing deep dish Chicago-style pizza with the most delicious crust. The crust is sort of 1/2 pizza dough, and 1/2 pie dough. It's very crispy and not overly delicate, but it's also super light and thin and very buttery tasting. Eli's Cheesecake is a Chicago culinary icon. It's rich like most cheesecakes, but somehow not overly heavy and not too sweet. Perfect! And Garret Popcorn makes the cheesiest cheese popcorn ever, and their caramel corn is incredible.

Thanks so much Dad, Sandy, Phil, Cheryl, and Miss Marisa!!

  4. How fun! I hope Dave had a great birthday!

I've had the Garret's caramel corn and it's soooo good! I really need to try that pizza the next time we're in the Chicago area. The King Arthur blog had something about Chicago pizza a while back and a lot of people recommended Lou Malnati's.
