Lemon Walnut Bread (made with sweet lemons)

It is citrus season here and the local Middle Eastern store had some gorgeous sweet lemons. I've had them before, but they're not something I've ever seen in the regular grocery store.

Sweet lemons have a much milder taste than regular lemons, and they truly are sweet. They also have very little acid so they can be eaten just like an orange.

I used some of the lemons to make Lemon and Walnut Bread. It's a nice recipe because the bread has a lot of lemon flavor, and it's not overly sweet. It tastes rather like lemony pound cake.

You can find the recipe here!

Eat you veggies!

  2. That sounds delicious. Those lemons are shaped like oranges, aren't they? I'm not sure if we have those here; maybe I've never noticed them.

  3. I have a sweet lemon tree in my front yard here in Florida. They are absolutely deliciious!! They are very large compared to regular lemons and give alot of juice as well as eating them like an orange. I am going to try the cake.

  5. I love anything lemon, Michele. Sounds like a great recipe. Are sweet lemons similar to Meyer lemons?

  6. Sweet lemons have just about zero acid and taste like weak lemonade.
