Daring Cooks' Satay

The January 2010 DC challenge was hosted by Cuppy of Cuppylicious and she chose a delicious Thai-inspired recipe for Pork Satay from the book 1000 Recipes by Martha Day.

I decided to do my satay with tofu and use a peanut dipping sauce. I marinated the tofu in sweet chili sauce, tamari, a little hot chili sauce, and a few drops of dark sesame oil. I let it sit in the marinade overnight, anf then I baked it in the oven until it was nicely browned. (I don't broil--ever.)

The satay was delicious mainly because this marinade works really well and gives tofu so much flavor. This is actually my favorite way to cook tofu though usually I cut it into thin slices and make sandwiches.

Please check out the other scrumptious creations at The Daring Kitchen.

  1. I'm so-so on tofu, but your marinating and baking method sounds and looks very good. I love peanut sauce!

  3. OMG now that is good looking tofu and the way it has caramalised is amazing, it is hard to make tofu look good and you sure have. Well done and I like how you tweaked the recipe to suit you. Cheers from Audax in Australia.

  6. That tofu satay looks scrumptious, Michele, nicely browned and toasty. I wish I had some right now for lunch.
And thanks for the shout-out on the sombreroni! Aren't they the cutest pasta ever? Let me know what you make with them.
