Sweet Melissa -- Peanut Butter Cookies

I love peanut butter cookies because they remind me of my Grandma W.; she made the most amazing peanut butter cookies ever--crispy and chewy all the the same time. These Sweet Melissa cookies are also very good; they are moist and chewy and don't taste all sugary-sweet.

I did something you're never supposed to do when baking--measure something right over the bowl. I measured the baking powder over my mixing bowl, and of course, much too much spilled out into my dough. The result? Very thin cookies that you could probably slide under a door if you had any reason to do so. Still, even my super skinny cookies were delicious; the edges were crisp but the middles were soft. And the sugar on the top made for a very satisfying bit of crunchiness.

If you're looking for a very simple, and very tasty peanut butter cookie recipe, try making these; I think you'll be very pleased.

This weeks SMS was hosted by the lovely and talented Stephanie from Ice Cream Before Dinner. You can find the complete recipe at her blog. http://icecreambeforedinner.blogspot.com/2009/08/sweet-melissa-sundays-chewy-peanut.html

  1. Yum....I love peanut butter cookies! I still remember my first recipe that I learned in school when everybody had to demonstrate how to do something and a girl made these very easy cookies...one cup of peanut butter, one cup of sugar and one egg.

  2. They look great with the crunchy sugar! I feel like my cookies never spread enough, maybe I should try extra baking powder.

  3. They look fab, mine came out kinda thin too but I think it was because I got a bit over excited with my crosshatching!
