Barefoot Bloggers - Cranberry Orange Scones and Marmalade Ice Cream

Em, from the wonderful blog The Repressed Pastry Chef, chose this week's Barefoot Blogger recipe--Cranberry Orange Scones. I am not a huge scone fan as I find that they are usually so dry and tasteless. These scones are an exception; they are moist and have a pronounced orange flavor. The recipe makes a huge amount of large scones, so I only made half. I think I ended up with 7 scones.

I served the scones as a dessert with some marmalade ice cream and some orange slices. I used homemade meyer lemon-saffron marmalade for the ice cream. I followed this recipe for the marmalade: http://www.veggienumnums.com/2009/03/tuesdays-with-dorie-french-yogurt-cake.html

I didn't use any specific recipe when I made the ice cream, I sort of invented a recipe as I went along. Here's a marmalade ice cream recipe that sounds similar to mine. http://www.ice-cream-recipes.com/ice_cream_recipe_marmalade.htm

Please visit Em's blog to get the recipe for the scones, and to see her wonderful photographs. http://therepressedpastrychef.com/2009/06/18/cranberry-orange-scones/
