TWD - Banana Cream Pie

When I mentioned to Dave that this week's recipe was banana cream pie, he was absolutely giddy. Banana cream pie is his very favorite dessert. He does in fact love pretty much all sweets, to the point where he has no problem eating cake for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but, banana cream pie is in a category all on it's own.

This recipe was not difficult to make, and had a very nice flavor. I really liked the cinnamon in the custard. The sour cream in the topping was also a nice touch. The only minor problem I had was that the filling stayed quite soft, making it difficut to cut the pie. Not that it mattered in this case, as Dave didn't even bother to cut it, but if I was serving this to guests it may end up looking a bit disheveled on the plate.

I was not able to get a very creative photograph of the pie, as the minute I finished putting on the whipped cream, Dave swooped in with a fork in his hand, grabbed the pie and plopped down in the big rocking chair. I was lucky to even get a taste without him biting my fingers.

Until next Tuesday...

  8. May not be able to see the pie, but if that whipped cream on top is any indication, the pie was perfect. Glad to hear you have all your fingers. Hard to bake with some missing. Looks fantastic.

  11. Your pie looks delicious! I had the opposite problem, my custard was too thick. I'm going to work on perfecting it, which means more banana cream pie!
