Tuesdays With Dorie!

Tuesdays With Dorie is a group of online bakers who are dedicated to baking recipes from the awesome cook book--Baking: From My home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan. It is a masterful book by a very talented baker. I'd been following the group for several months when I found out that they were accepting new members. I immediately sent off an e-mail, and was quite beside myself with excitement when I was invited to join.

Each week, the Tuesdays with Dorie members cook one recipe from the book, and on each Tuesday, they do a blog write-up about the recipe.
This week the group made Fresh Ginger and Chocolate Gingerbread. See the recipe here: http://sherrytrifle-lovelycats.blogspot.com/2009/01/fresh-ginger-and-chocolate-gingerbread.html

I was a little leery of this recipe since I am not a huge chocolate person. I do really like gingerbread though. I didn't make any changes to the recipe, except I baked it in a round springform pan instead of a square pan. The gingerbread baked up beautifully, and I let it cool several hours before I glazed it.

We had the gingerbread tonight for dessert; it was delicious, but it's a very strong flavor. The ginger is intense, but also, since the chocolate is bittersweet, there's a very big chocolate presence. I cut small slices, so I think you could get at least 10 servings.

Here is the link to the Tuesdays with Dorie web page. I'm really looking forward to the next baking challenge! http://tuesdayswithdorie.wordpress.com/about/
