Apple crumble

This is a simple recipe that is based on an apple crumble made by Jamie Oliver. I love Jamie Oliver - his cooking and his philanthropy. What an amazing young man.

These quantities are estimates! For a specific recipe check out Jamie's web site.

I sliced up four apples, very thinly, and sprinkled them with some sugar and cinnamon. I put the apples in a pie plate and added a bit of juice. I used pineapple juice because that is what I had on hand but apple juice is ideal. In a bowl I mixed together about two cups of quick cooking oatmeal, 3/4 stick of soft butter, some sugar (to taste), a handful of walnuts, and a tablespoon or so of cinnamon. I added a little milk because the oatmeal mixture was too dry.

I topped the apple mixture with the oat mixture and baked it at 325F for about 35 minutes, until the apples were tender.

I let it cool to room temperature so that the juices would thicken.

Wonderful with ice cream!
