Farmer's market shopping - part two

We did a big veggie shopping this week and found some really neat things at the farmer's market. There were some gorgeous eggplants and I bought several to use in a pasta sauce. The corn we bought is called "sticky" corn. I'd never seen it before. From what I understand it originates from Asia. There is a large Hmong community near Fresno so we are able to buy some really unusual produce locally

The wrinkled-cucumber looking thing is called bitter melon. I've never tasted it before. Supposedly it is very good for people who have diabetes. I am still trying to figure out how to cook it.

I also found some neat round squash and some yellow cucmbers. Farmer's market shopping is one of my favorite excursions.
